Tommy Randersa has announced he will be joining HWA Racelab for his rookie Formula 2 season.

Randersa won the Formula 3 title in 2020, and came 4th in F3 Asian series in 2021 despite missing two out of the five rounds.

"I'm very pleased to be moving up to Formula 2 in 2021," said Randersa, who will be entering just his third year in car racing.

"It will be a difficult transition to the next step of the ladder, but we're doing our best to prepare to be able to perform to the best of our abilities."

"As a rookie, I don't quite know what the expectations are from me this year, but I'm confident we can unlock the potential of both the team and the car with such impressive facilities here at HWA and the hard work of each and every team member."

The German is part of the Mercedes-AMG family, and despite his success with them in 2020, he has been rumored to be dropped from the driver academy as his Formula 1 opportunities fade due to the Marunnian license restrictions.

"Whatever happens this year, I intend to stay a part of Mercedes' motorsport programmes, whether it be in Formula 1, Formula E or GT3."
